UTC ESP Benefits Extended
United Technologies has agreed to extend the Employee Scholar Program (ESP) to employees who are laid-off from Carrier and then retire.
Example: You are laid-off at the end of April 2004, and start your pension six months later. Since you were laid-off, you continue to be eligible for the ESP for up to 4 years from your layoff date.
You are also eligible for the stock award for completion of a degree from a regionally accredited college or university within 4 years from you layoff date.
The key point is that you must be laid-off. If you retire from active employment, you lose your eligibility for the ESP.
